Nordana was operating the only regular direct
RoRo service from the US Gulf and East Coast into Libya until the unrest
forced the temporary suspension of services in February. The official sanctions have now been lifted, which
together with improved security in the region permits Nordana to resume
service. "The increasing stabilization in the Eastern part of Libya has now
reached a stage where we have found it safe for the crew, vessel and cargo
to re-establish the service and start accepting cargo for Benghazi on a
regular basis. As the situation improves other
ports in Libya will be added" said René Sivertsen, Line Manager Nordana.
In addition to US exports, cargo from Spain,
Italy, Egypt and Turkey are accepted on the regular 3-weekly service, which
apart from Rolling Stock accommodate break-bulk inclusive oversized, heavy
lift and containers on the fully self-sustained vessels.
First sailing from US will be the MV
